blog changes, update:
3
so a couple weeks ago, i posted something about blog changes. thank you to everyone who participated in the survey! i received so much positive feedback and it was so good to hear from you! i also said that anyone who took the survey and left a comment would win a $15 gift certificate to my shop and i've finally picked a winner via random.org. the random winner was comment #29! kelly mccaleb! kelly has a lovely blog, and i recently purchased one of her amazing pdf tutorials! i was so delighted that she was the winner. congrats kelly!

in regards to the changes, i think we'll see a few happening at oh, hello friend by end of may! along with a mega giveaway to launch the new content. actually, the end of may will be my 1-year blog anniversary so all the new content and change will fit in perfectly!
definitely look forward to a weekly giveaway (already lots of sponors scheduled! if you'd be interested in participating in a giveaway, send me an email!) and more inspirational content! thanks for reading my blog friends, i'm having lots of fun with it!

sewing class:
23

so i mentioned that i'm taking a sewing class at the local community college and our recent project was a skirt! i chose this simplicity project runway skirt pattern 2698. it was probably a little more complicated for a beginner, and i was super lost. but it had pockets, and i love pockets! well, needless to say i fell super behind so luckily, my very talented aunt linda was able to help me out. she spent the day with me (and i mean, the entire day!) showing me how the pockets worked, learning how to sew the waistband, and pleats!
but when i tried the waistband, it was super small! so then i was super bummed the skirt wouldn't even fit! (and after all that work, it better fit! hehe) so she asked if i wanted to make a new waistband. i thought, why not, how hard could it be? little did i know how much more complicated it would make the skirt! so we took new measurements, made cut a new waistband, and we had to take the pleats out of the skirt and shorten them so the skirt would match the new waistband. after lots of measurements, many hours, and complete brilliance, (all on my aunts end, i was totally clueless!) it was done!

A+ for the class! jk. to finish it off, my teacher thought a hand sewn hem would be nice. so that was lots of fun ;) and that is my sewing adventure on this skirt! our next project after this is making a button up blouse with collar and sleeves. yikes!

April 24, 2009
finally, an update! so it was a great week last week in san diego at vendor fair. it was a lot of fun meeting new people and selling our goods and getting our name out there! it was a week full of lemons, lots of jokes, and much talk about 'blog-worthy' things that we were going to blog about when we got back. but here are some images!
friends:
top row is sophia! she was soooo sweet, she went all out! she is wearing the boom box necklace, the $7 shades i was selling, the leaf earrings (which you can't really see), and holding a robot necklace that i put on a black chain for her. (the robot was originally on a silver chain, it was a good collaboration)birdcage! i made this while i was sitting at vendor fair, put it out, and tiffany bought it! she wore it right out, it was lovely!
2nd row is erin, a dear friend! it's so cool to actually meet people from etsy.
last pic is alison - she came back to my booth the next day wearing pete! (in grey)
she was adorable ;) and bought a few other things too..
here we are! esther is on the left, she was soooo amazing and let us stay at her place all week! i just met her through steppie too. steps is in the middle. and i think you know me ;)
so i had some flowers left and we are mean girls and made our boys wear them. jr (left) actually let us put 2 in his hair, haha. morris got in touch with his femine side ;) they were good sports about it. nick was kind of mad, hehe. i mean, that is such a mad-bear face!
the girls + boys. so nick ended up taking the train from orange county down into san diego, so he could ride back in my car with me! it was awesome. he actually ended up driving back to oc, and i got to sleep. he is so sweet. he knew i was so tired.
that's about all! steps actually posted about it on her blog as well, lots more pics! we are doing vendor fair at uc irvine next week so if you're in orange county, hope you can come out! then next weekend i'll be at unique los angeles, hopefully with a cool craft photobooth! (more on that later!) happy friday!

hi friends,
just wanted to drop a quick note to apologize that i won't be posting for the next couple days. i'm in san diego with my friend, steppie, we're selling our goods at ucsd vendor fair, and it's awesome! i didn't even have any time to write you before i left, as i was preparing for the show. i feel like something is off in life, cause i never miss a daily post, but lately it's been crazy! we'll be here all week. it's intense setting up every day, but a lot of fun. anyway, i'll definitely be back blogging next week: and announcing the new changes to the blog! have a lovely week! miss you.

April 12, 2009

happy easter dear friends!
hope you have a lovely day with your families full of quality time: hunting for eggs, and eating candy, or whatever your tradition may be. nick and i are exchanging some easter baskets, i got him some yummy see's chocolate eggs with a white chocolate bunny inside. i have such fond memories of a chocolate bunny that my grandma gave me when i was younger, with another chocolate inside, so i was so delighted to find these. we're taking my grandpa to church and then having lunch, i've mentioned he's 83 so i'm excited to be able to go to Easter service with him.
the picture comes from some pretty floral pieces i recently ordered in such pretty colors: mint, ivory, and pink and they really reminded me of easter when i received them the other day, so appropriate.
see you tomorrow!
