weekend:

hello friends!

i'm sorry for such the delay in my post! i've been so busy getting the new blog layout ready for next week, i haven't had a lot of time to do anything else. so it's nearly a new weekend but i just wanted to catch up on last weekend! my brother's and nick and i drove up to san jose for my cousin's graduation. we got to spend some time at my mom's new house, which is just lovely. i found out she had a cherry tree which i was super excited about. we got to pick lots and lots of cherries! here's a view of her back yard! yep, her backyard has a lake. i want a lake in my backyard! and lots and lots of fruit trees ;)

then on monday nick and i went to disneyland! it was super busy. probably wouldn't suggest going on a holiday ;) we saw the aladdin show, i had nick take the 'disney character' test - he turned out to be jafar! haha. (first image you see, were in the storybook!) and in the second picture, i am next to the indian man holding pineapple whip which is so very good on a hot day.

so disneyland also has a 1 cent machine and you can watch a little flip book animation. so i thought i'd bring you all a little something from disneyland. (sorry some of the pages get all bunched up, i'm sure the machine is pretty old.) hope you can kind of make it out :)

ok, random tuesday posts! so i spent some time designing a new twitter background last week. fun fun. lol, these are the highlights of my day. ;) you can check it out! and as you know, i'm redesigning the blog layout in june -- so you can get a preview of what it kind of looks like since i used the same graphics in the twitter background.

patchwork craft show in santa ana:

patchwork show: may 17, 2009.

so i didn't really follow up on the irvine show or unique los angeles, sad! so here are some patchwork show photos from sunday! it was a lot of fun! i had a great spot with the greenery behind me.

the set up:

the eyelit 2 tier plate is the newest addition to the table, i love it! got it off ebay. probably wasn't the best deal but it was just so cute, i couldn't resist.

friends:

my aunt linda drove out from la to visit the show: she always is such a great support and has come to pretty much all my shows! both my aunts are so crafty, they're inspirations!

my mom happened to be in town and came to my first show on her way back to stockton! and i forgot my business cards so she saved the day and brought me some.

at the top is mayra, she's crafty too :) then laura, she works at paper-source and is really sweet! 3rd photo is my partner in crime: steps! i really missed her, lol. after seeing her week after week, it was weird not seeing her anymore. and the last picture is ivy, nina, & myra - all lovely ladies. nina is planning another craft show in june! (handmade brigade!)

highlights:

ok, so there were 2 highlights of the show. the first one was of these 2 simply ADORABLE little girls, they were cousins. they came and tried on my hair pins, so i just had to capture the moment. they both had tiny little purses and were just so cute.

this lady's bag was amazing! i was like, "cool bag!" and she was like, "it really works!" lol. what?! get out of here. so i guess you just have to plug it in to the wall but it totally works. she even took off the phone part and i pressed the buttons, lol. she said she got it at payless many years ago. crazy. so yep, this is a highlight cause..what a cool bag! they don't make 'em like they used to.

the bf's:

can't forget the supportive bf's. steppie and morris are our friend couple. i love that morris always wears steppie's new line of tees, so cute! and lastly, nicholas. what a great support and sweetheart. giving up his sunday to sit with me at my show and count change and load and unload and park the car while i get to set up and hang my banner and anything else i need him to do. he is wonderful.

so it was a great show. met new friends, made some new contacts. nick and i went to see star trek afterward - um, amazing!! if you haven't seen it, drop everything and go right now ;) hehe. i had a really hard time understanding the whole time travel thing, nick spent a good 15 - 30 minutes afterward explaining it to me, lol.

weekend wedding:

i went to a wedding on saturday, at a ranch only 5 minutes away from my house. it is crazy that little places like this exist and one can go without even knowing! my roommate (2nd to last picture) was the wedding coordinator and we both thought it was so cool that there was this lovely place hidden away in placentia, california. it was just a perfect sunny day for a wedding.

anyway, i loved the details of kim's wedding: everything from the super cute wood crates to the mason jar centerpieces filled with tulips. she gave out little knotts berry farm jars or orange jelly. i was able to design the invitations for her wedding, and we threw together a program for the wedding last minute. sadly, i did not take any pictures of those or even think to...i'm so bad at that! but here are some images i was able to capture, though i am no photograher, i really enjoyed the whole atmosphere - the trees providing natural shade, with sunlight rays still beaming through. it was all so charming and came together so well. her budget wasn't a lot: so the flowers, the cake, the videos, were all done by friends - now that is how to do a wedding i say!

so back in february i did a lovely goods post that featured a few etsy shops that hadn't made a sale yet. today, all 6 shops featured have not yet had a sale.

like yesterday for gabrielle's photographs, i used etsy's pounce feature to find these shops! it is super fun to look through all the new shops on etsy. i must have clicked through 50 pages or so. anyway, take some time to check out and support these new artists!
