lovely wear / yellow pants:

I came home with these pants the other week and Nick wasn't crazy about the color. They're yellow, my favorite. I guess they look sort of orange in the photos. What do you think of the pants? Sure, they're bright, but I like them ;) It was hot over the weekend, but it's starting to cool down now so time to pull out the sweaters + coats.

My latest favorite necklace - a globe watch!
Globes, love. Functional? Even better ;)

This bag has a little lock and key, love! It's all in the little details.

Top, Bow Scarf, Necklace, Bag - Reverie Market
Pants - from Crossroads Trading Co, brand: Gap
Boots - Steve Madden

The Wanderlust / Now Open:

November 29, 2011

The shop has been open for a couple weeks but I haven't officially announced it yet.. so here is the official announcement: The Wanderlust is now open :) It's filled with 80+ of all my favorite items: paper, stationery, home decor, curious and vintage objects.

It's probably taken me a good 6-7 months to get this together, I don't know why I procrastinated so long with it! It is a lot of work to take/edit photos and then list the item.. but putting it on my 12 by 2012 list really pushed me to just get it done. Another 12 by 2012 update coming, how are you doing with your list?

Anyway - use code "grandopen" for 10% off + a free gift with purchase. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list too, I'll be sending a special Christmas promotion next month. Hope you enjoy it friends, I had a lot of fun curating everything.

ps: still kind of feeling under the weather with our wisdom teeth operation yesterday.. but for the most part, it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks for all your comments + tips, it was fun reading it while I was in bed all day! Best part of this whole thing: getting to spend time with my husband 24/7! I'd get my wisdom teeth out every week if he could stay home all day long ;)

goodbye wisdom teeth:

Crochet Tooth Pillow by Millie Fern.

Call us crazy but Nick & I are getting our wisdom teeth out today. I know, I know. Lots of people have asked us why we are doing it at the same time. I don't know, it sounded like a good idea at the time. Plus I figured if the doctor and nurse who scheduled our appointment said it'd be okay, then I guess it's okay for couples to do it together...? I'm a little nervous about the whole anesthesia thing, I've never been put under or anything. Plus the recovery over the next couple days - yikes. Have you seen David after Dentist? Nick said we may be like this after we wake up .. pretty funny stuff. But maybe not so funny if it's you, hehe. A couple of my wisdom teeth are erupted so I don't know if that's better or worse, I'm hoping better! Don't worry, my brother is driving us home afterward. Have you had your wisdom teeth out? How was it for you? Any advice for recovery? I've heard it's a breeze from most friends, I just feel like I would be that one case who has a bad recovery or outcome, you know what I mean? ;)

Well 12 days of cheer has officially started today, so I hope you enjoy and possibly even get a few deals for yourself :) Be sure to check back everyday because we're having some pretty sweet deals for the next 12 days, weekends too!

I'll be back tomorrow with a better post.. Happy Monday friends! Hope you enjoy the last couple days of November!

10 things, friday:

How was your Thanksgiving? Ours was quite lovely. Went to my Aunt's house and saw all our relatives, it is always a good time seeing family. In keeping with this week's theme of thankfulness and the challenge I wrote about on Monday, here are today's 10 things I'm grateful for.

1) Thankful for 2011. Our first year of marriage, the fun things we did together, all the craft shows we were able to sell at. It's been a good year, I can't complain.
2) For the ability to communicate. My grandfather recently lost his ability to speak. Something in his throat, it is hard for him to swallow and now he doesn't talk either :( It is quite sad but I realized how fortunate we are to have the ability to talk - how frustrating would it be to not be able to communicate?
3) Photography, and the ability to capture all the beauty that surrounds us.
4) Harry Potter, an epic story of love and sacrifice. As well as something that Nick and I can share in together!
5) Thankful for money in the bank and that we are able to save a little here and there.
6) The post office. Even though sometimes they sometimes are shady (at my post office at least) and keep raising the rates to send mail, how would we send and receive all the lovely things in the mail without them? I am a big online shopper, I can't imagine not being able to receive packages!
7) Arms and hands. So I can hug my husband and hold his hand, which I love to do and we do often :)
8) Antique markets. What can I say? I am a big fan of vintage/antiques and we have quite a few markets available to us in oc/la - going to the markets are so fun and I am also thankful for my sweet husband who goes with me, even if it's not his favorite thing to do on the weekends ;)
9) Imagination and ideas.
10) All the support from you, the readers. Thankful for anyone who has ever come to a craft show, a vintage sale, anyone who has ordered from my shops, and anyone who reads this blog - I am so thankful for you all and humbled by your support. Thank you friends.

Even though the 10 things challenge ends today, I hope I can keep this mentality of being thankful and content in my day-to-day life. I feel like it can be so easy to fall back into complaining about silly things and being ungrateful - but it is so refreshing to have a thankful mindset, don't you think? Happy Friday dear friends! Wishing you all a splendid weekend.

November 24, 2011

Today is a holiday here in the usa, it's Thanksgiving. This week, I've been blogging about 10 new things each day that I am thankful for. My 10 for today are:

1) Family + having a place we can go to celebrate today.
2) That we can spend time with my Grandpa + Grandma today for Thanksgiving.
3) Water. There's nothing more refreshing than ice cold water on a hot day.
4) Insurance. We're getting our wisdom teeth out on Monday and thank goodness for insurance through Nick's work!
5) That my dad and his family got back home safe from Vietnam yesterday
6) Children. they're so precious. Can't wait to have our own.
7) Traveling. the ability to travel and opportunities we have to go explore new places
8) Books and great authors who have the creativity to write and tell stories.
9) Blogs. I love this blog community and all the friends I would have possibly never known if I never had a blog.
10) My future. Whatever that may be or whatever it holds, I am thankful and excited for it!

Whatever your plans are for today, I hope you can spend it with loved ones and that your day is blessed!

10 things, wednesday:

10 new things I am thankful for today.

1) simple things I take for granted like food, clothes, and a home.
2) food + the ability to taste.
3) that I get to go to sleep + wake up next to my husband each day!
4) the bible and truth that i hold so close to my heart.
5) my identity in Christ, and the hope found in Him.
6) forgiveness. It's a beautiful thing. without it, Nicholas and i would never make it through!
7) patience. Another thing that gets us through the day.
8) technology: internet, computer, camera, etc.
9) Jane Austen ;)
10) Car. So often taken for granted but I saw about 10 people the other day waiting at the bus stop.. and thought, "people really use the bus??" heh. our bus system is not efficient here from what I've heard. I've never used it but my roommates in college used it once to go about 3 miles down the street and it took 2 hours! I wondered the circumstances those people were in that they had to use the bus... So grateful I have the means to have a car that takes me to the places I want/need to go.

For the technology thing, I do sometimes think what our lives would be like without it. Perhaps more simple. We could take time to enjoy life instead of being consumed by the computer 5 or 6 or 7 hours a day. But I guess I am thankful for it, because it's pretty cool ;)

November 22, 2011

Thanks for your comments yesterday friends! Was inspiring reading your lists. Got a couple of today's thankful things from some of you ;)

10 grateful things for Tuesday:

1) my sight, I can't imagine not being able to see life and the world around me.
2) creativity
3) my hands and feet and brain - they all work.. for the most part ;)
4) music
5) freedom
6) as of last wednesday, new wood floors in our home :)
7) that my mom got through her cancer
8) rain, because I love it oh so much!
9) forgiveness
10) my story - where I am at in life and the journey that got me here.

Okay, this is actually really a lot of fun. I am not struggling with thinking of new things everyday to be thankful for... though I admit I was a bit skeptical and thought it'd be hard to come up with things. If anything, it's opening up a whole new perspective. This guy knows what he is talking about! ;) What are you thankful for today?

ohhellofriend.com:

97

So I finally got around to working on a design for my ohhellofriend.com website! I don't know that this site serves much of a purpose other than just placing the web address on my business cards and directing people to the blog/shop from this site. But it's been a long time since it's had any design on it. I came up with 2 designs .. and I thought I'd ask you which one you like better! :)

I liked the idea of everything being on 1 single page, so this design just has all the single links and doesn't need any additional pages. It takes you to twitter/facebook/blog/& shop - even the mailing list form is here. Simple + straight forward. The only extra page needed is the event page. At first I liked the design.. then I took a break and came back to it and wondered if it just looked like one big jumbled mess? Now I'm not sure what I think of it, I think I still like it, but what do you think?

So then I came up with this design - the usual navigation layout and individual pages to go along with each link. Added in the about, connect, & shop page. Nick likes this one better, but it just seems like so many unnecessary clicks + links when it can fit all on one page, you know what I mean? Still - I like this layout too.

So I need your vote! #1 or #2?
Always love hearing your thoughts and getting your input.
Thanks friends, you're the best!

grateful, 10 things challenge:

27

November 21, 2011

Yesterday we heard a message in church about being thankful. I considered myself a thankful person, but after hearing this, it really had me reflecting the state of my heart.

The pastor gave an example phrase that people often use: "if only i had ____ , then I'd be happy" Fill in the blank. A new car. A better job. A bigger house. A lot of money. Nick and I chuckled because I have totally said this exact phrase to him. If only I had a store, then I'd be happy. If only I could travel wherever/whenever I wanted, then I'd be happy. If only Nick & I could start a business together, then I'd be happy. Hmm. But would it ever be enough? Even if I got all those things I think would make me happy, would I truly be happy? Probably not. I'd probably want even more. A lot of it is related to being content. If I'm not truly content, I find myself complaining about things in life, which is silly because I have so much to be thankful for. I don't want to be an ungrateful person or be someone who constantly compares and complains.

Anyway, he told us at the start of November, he writes down 10 things he is thankful for each day. a little challenge to himself, and none of them are repeated. 10 things a day! Hmm. I was kind of stumped because I thought to myself, that is a lot of things to come up with, hehe. But I was a little embarrassed and ashamed because surely there is so much to be grateful for in my life.

So for today and the rest of the week, I'm taking up the challenge and writing 10 different things I am thankful for. Feel free to join in, I'd love to hear the things you're thankful for! Or post on your own blog. Here are my 10 things I am thankful for today. in no particular order.. :)

1) love
2) my husband
3) grace
4) my mom
5) my brother
6) education
7) health
8) laughter
9) oh, hello friend
10) life

Hm, my first list today may be a little general/cliche..but I am thankful for them. Well, this week I am really going to reflect on things I take for granted everyday. Things I should be truly grateful for. What are you thankful for today friend?

thanks to sixth & main for the beautiful graphic above!
