My favorite christmas tradition is choosing the christmas tree together with my brother and sister!
ReplyDeleteWhoops, send to early. My email adress is jutta (AT) kreativfieber (DOT) de
ReplyDeleteI remember when we were younger, my mom would have us open our gift in the morning and have a great breakfast/brunch. Since we were such a small family this was bliss. She would often make the "executive (read: mom of the house) decision" that we would get to open them early if christmas was too far in our school break. This meant a whole 2 weeks holiday time of playing boardgames together, enjoying our gifts and most important of all each others company. No stress or fuss, just love.

ReplyDeleteI love everything about Christmas, its hard to find a favorite tradition. My extended family lives far away, so Christmases are low-key for us. I love opening our new Christmas pajamas on Christmas Eve, and helping my mom in the kitchen on Christmas day.

ReplyDeletemy favorite holiday tradition....well, we don't really have many traditions in my family besides the whole "getting together, eating, and opening presents" bit
ReplyDeletebut decorating the tree / house with my family is something we've done together as far as I can remember. Same old decorations, too :)
Favorite Christmas Tradition: Traveling South to Phoenix, Arizona to spend Christmas with favorite cousins and relatives!
ReplyDeleteNeither of our families really celebrate traditions, but I am SUCH an advocate of them so Jon and I have set out to pioneer our own for our one-day-to-be family! This year, we made our first married fort and I think that will DEFINITELY have to be a Christmas tradition we celebrate each year! We also cooked as close to an affordable whole foods Xmas brunch as we could attempting to use as few processed or canned food as we could. Lastly, I'm friggin' obsessed with Christmas trees! They're the best! Jon and I love our tree so much that we have "Xmas tree talks" every few nights by the tree with the lights off and the Christmas tree lights on! Love it! This response is too long....

ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition as a child was when my mother would drive me to the "rich neighborhood" to see all the Christmas lights. They had lights galore, animatronic displays (before they were more affordable), and it was bumper to bumper traffic, but I loved it all! We listened to Christmas music the entire time. I have donen it a few times with my son, but he shows no interest. :(

ReplyDeleteFavorite Christmas memory- I was 11 and had lost my father that year. I could see the lights shaped like a tree on top of the fire station a block away from my bedroom window. They were a beautiful robin's egg blue, and it was so pretty, it just made me feel happy to see it in a year I didn't have much "happy."

My favorite holiday memory took place about five years ago. We had a huge snowstorm, which included more ice than actual snow. So rather than walking my dogs around the neighborhood to deliver baked goods, I was able to pull out my ice skates and give the neighbors an extra added surprise by skating their gifts to their front door! It was an absolute blast.

ReplyDeleteOur family tradition is to play the Mrs. Right game at my mother's house on Christmas day. Instead of buying expensive gifts for everyone, each family finds fun, funky $10 gifts from each member of the family and wraps them up. We then pass each gift left to right according to the story read by my mother. It's so much fun to see what everyone winds up with at the end.
