Hello! Please tell us a little about yourself and your lovely shop: My name is Rachel, and I live in Seattle with my fantastic boyfriend and our furry little monsters, Rufus the cat and Bodhi the dog. I opened my shop up in 2007, but it had a much different look back then, featuring plushies and greeting cards. These days, it's a bit shiner, filled with my line of handmade jewelry.

You have a really unique style of jewelry: how did you get started in making jewelry? I design all my pieces based on what I like to wear. I love lightweight designs that are minimalistic yet pretty. I'm constantly in search of a way to express myself creatively, whether that's through drawing, writing, music, or crafts, so I think it was just a matter of time until I tried out jewelry design. Once I got a little taste of it, I absolutely loved it. When I first started making jewelry, I figured that the worse that could happen was that I'd be my only fan and would get to wear everything I made. I'm indebted to everyone that has been supportive of my work.

What else do you do besides blog + run your etsy shop: I work as an interactive designer. There's this joke that designers' parents have no clue what their kid does for a living, but for me, it's the opposite: my mom is also a graphic designer, so when I was little, I'd think, "Now THIS is a cool job!" I also assumed I'd grow up to be an artist (my dad paints) and a writer (still working on that one).

I spend a lot of my free time trying to stop my cat from destroying the house and my dog from chasing the cat. I can get borderline obsessive over music (Radiohead), films (La planète sauvage), and food (noodles). I try to read and write a lot but never get as much in as I'd like to. And as nerdy as it might sound, I can get really enthusiastic about crosswords.

Favorite place to travel: Wherever I go, I love driving through the city at night. As much as I've enjoyed my vacations, I don't think I've found that most-loved place yet, someplace I just keep wanting to go back to. Japan and Australia are high on my must-travel-to list.
