diy with Brittni:

March 11, 2011

Brittni here from papernstitch. And this week I am delving into all things sparkly for my diy roundup. It's a little bit of everything: small to big, fashion to home decor, all with one thing in common: casual glamour. Casual glamour? What the heck is that? Well, we're about to find out. Enjoy!

Hang your favorite postcards, love notes, and everything in between in a place that rarely receives any design love: the fridge. Yep! Dress up your fridge with a fun and flirty magnet diy found on Curbly using vintage jewelry, vintage babble turned magnets (image above), and you'll feel inspired each time you take a trip to the kitchen.

Then, bring some drama into the bedroom (or dining room) with this capiz shell look-alike chandelier. So clever! Believe it or not the "shells" in this project are actually made of wax paper. Sure fooled me.

And how about a little gold? You didn't think I was going to get through an entire glamour diy roundup without it, did you? These two gold projects have me hooked on home decor, in very different ways. So, if you're feeling regal, spruce up an old lampshade with a geometric gilded treatment that feels oh-so luxe. Or get in on the gold rush and create these quirky alchemy bookends, if you're looking to spice things up with something a bit more unexpected.

And for our final project of the week, turn a basic sunglasses case into an evening clutch in a matter of minutes using this easy clutch tutorial. Genius! You can even paint the "clutch" with textile paint to take it things to the next level. How's that for casual glamour?

Now that I've showed you a few causal glamour craft projects, I am curious to know your take on things. How do you describe "casual glamour"? Let me know in the comments below.
