weekly giveaway note:

November 16, 2009

hi friends. i've realized that some people have been winning for our weekly giveaways but they are not claiming their prize. the past few giveaways, i have not had any response from the winners.

i know some people are not comfortable with leaving their email addresses because there are possible chances for spam and that is totally understandable. but without email addresses, i have no way to contact you.

so the official announcement is to
please check each week to see if you are the winner :)
the winner's are now posted below the new weekly giveaway for the week.

ps: if anyone has any ideas to help, let me know. perhaps something you have done on your blog that you found works.. are you enjoying weekly giveaways? your feedback is always appreciated and valued :) thank you!

13 hello's:

  1. most blogs i visit aside from this one require winners to have an email address. no email address means you can't win and the prize moves down the list.

  2. You have such a beautiful blog. I love it.

  3. Hi Danni!

My advice (and what I do on mine) is to require and e-mail address for entry. You can tell people in the rules to leave their e-mail as shrimpsaladcircus at gmail dot com or shrimpsaladcircus(at)gmail(dot)com to thwart spam bots. I used to have the same problem, but now I tell people that they are disqualified without a contact e-mail.

    Hope that helps!

  4. When I do giveaways I don't require an email. I just have them check back on the day I announce it and to email me (using the awesome email graphic I got from you) to claim their prize. That way their email isn't out there for the world to see. I've seen several other blogs do it that way to.

  5. I would keep the email as a requirement. I think it's important and it shows you who is really serious about winning the item and who is just commenting on a whim, as it were.

  6. My blog is small, so I don't do giveaways, but I would recommend creating a new post to announce the winners. I imagine people are using google reader to keep up with your blog and therefore don't know about the updates. Just a suggestion :).

  7. You can give the winners one week to claim their prize, if you don't hear from them, you choose another winner. :)

  8. I love the giveaways! How about if someone doesn't claim their prize within two weeks you pick another reader/follower of your blog for the win? That way the loyal folks who do check out your blog each week for the giveaway and get sad when we don't see our name (hehe) have a second chance. :) Just an idea...

  9. I am digging the giveaways :) Keep them up. You could always introduce a new rule. if the first winner has not contacted you within a certain number of days then you pick a second winner. If everyone is always aware that there's a time limit then they will check back often. Or they could be like me and read your blog every day :)

  10. Oh, that sucks.. I hope the artists that donate the gifts don't feel too bad about this, I'm sure people just forget to check back.
I have also seen that most blogs require an email address and if you don't provide one you are not entered in the giveaway. Plus you can always write {at} instead of @ and {dot} so that you don't get spam.. hope this helps :)

  12. i usually find that an email to the winner gets the ball rolling (although it can be a pain when you're busy!) also, if someone has claimed their prize w/in a week, i choose another winner.
