diy with Brittni:

March 4, 2011

Hi everyone! It's Brittni from papernstitch with another craft project roundup for you. When thinking about what to feature for this week, I started to feel like last week's small things post needed a follow-up. So, I have another small things diy roundup for you on this beautiful Friday morning. Let's get started...

(above) Freshen up those tired bowls, vases, and other household items with a fresh coat of paint (idea from stylist Rebecca Newport via Decor8). It sounds a little strange, but the results are hard to argue with. The secret? Make sure its a chalky matte finish and remember color is important.

Make a no sew fabric coin purse like this one from Between the Lines with just a few scraps. This little diy would be the perfect gift for party favors, bridesmaids, and birthdays. And its so easy, you can even get the kids involved.

And finally, here are a couple of projects from Martha, who is at it again with her clever tutorials. Learn how to cross-stitch pretty much anything (from fabric scraps to pencil bags) with a few fun projects. Or create a batch of quick and quirky button magnets for the fridge.

Working on any craft projects this weekend?

Let me know in the comments.

9 hello's:

  1. Hi Danni,

Just found your blog the other day, wow, I love it. I'm a new follower.

This weekend I'm working on framing some of my own art and making a paper sculpture of my house. I saw the idea on a site and thought it would be cute to try.

I look forward to reading more on here!

  2. I love DIY projects! This weekend I'm hoping to finish up a project I'm doing, using left over fabric scraps to make a unique curtain.

I'll hopefully have pictures up soon of my progress ;)

  3. That sounds awesome Rebekuh. I'd love to see photos of the finished piece. Have a great weekend.

  4. Great tutorials! I'm off to go check out the cross-stitch one ;)

  5. Hi!
I'm a new follower, from Spain!
I also like DIY projects! This weekend I will be doing greeting cards for two friends that are leaving the city.

    Have a good weekend!

  6. Amazing .. I will bookmark your blog and take the feeds also... Big thanks for the useful info i found on Comentari de categoria nova.

  7. Thanks, Brittni, for featuring my little no sew coin purse in your small things round-up! I really love the small things posts and hope there will be more!!

  8. Wow Brittni you make so many cute things. I am also a new follower. I am making skate guards right now. I made a pair for my daughters hockey skates with her "team colours" and now people want them to make them for them too. It is hard though I work full time and am trying to make these in the evenings. It seems no one wants to learn how to do things on their own anymore. I will take some pic and blog about it later this week...hopefully if I can get away from making them. Have a great week.
