Today's keyword is wood. I think wood is a material that will never grow old. It's always classy. Right now, our goal for our place is to get wood floors installed and get rid of our yucky carpet. I just need to clean and get everything out of here first ;) Hope you enjoy these finds today!

Remembering:

8

May 30, 2011

memorial day.
To anyone who has served in the military, to those who have given their life for this country - Perhaps you have lost someone dear to you or even know a friend who has lost a loved one. Today, let us remember & honor those who have so bravely served this country and those who have fought for our freedom.

I personally don't have a lot of familiarity with military life - no one in my family has ever been in the military. The photos & videos you see on tv, I can't fully grasp what those families go through because I can't relate. I can only imagine. I know I often can take the freedom and comfort we are able to live in for granted, but today, let us recognize those who have fought and given us that freedom!

happy friday / iphone memories:

May 27, 2011

Aw, I plugged my phone in and was going through all the photos on my phone, which were pretty random. It was fun though, they're like little snapshots of life.. What I was doing, where I was around that time. I have a terrible memory too so it's nice to have random photos from here and there. Thought I'd share some ;)

Photobucket
1. I can't reach the overhead bins on planes, so I stuffed my bag under my seat. It didn't really fit that well.
2. At ALT summit with my roommates, Melanie & Natalie.
3. Nick's hair is so long, we put it in a mini pony tail!
4. Saw someone with this smashed iPhone, but it still worked! Legit.
5. My friend had a candle and burned her macbook, and it still works!
photos #4+5 just show that apple products are the best! ;)
6. Eating lunch, a little bird came and joined me.

Photobucket
1. My harry potter watch, which I've lost and I'm so sad!
2. Went to some random auction tv show taping and saw Stan Lee!
3. Katherine is so super sweet, she was wearing 6-7 things
that she bought from me at UCI.
4. Saw lady gaga in concert. It was quite strange.

What sort of photo-memories do you have in your phone?

If you're in the area - hope you can stop by our vintage yard sale this Saturday with Found Rentals! Please RSVP at eventbrite.

So this weekend is a very special weekend because it is our last weekend of shows! I sold at about 10 shows during the month of May, it was intense and crazy to say the least. Do you have any memorial day weekend plans?

See you on Monday! xo.

I don't think I will ever grow tired of lace & crochet. It is just too pretty! Do you have any one thing that you are always drawn to? I came across some pretty lace items at jcrew and then ended up searching a bunch of other lace/crochet items. Doing keywords is so dangerous, I want to buy everything!

the kitchen, a dining experience:

For my Grandma's 85th birthday a couple weeks ago, our entire family went to The Kitchen, in Sacramento. It was this intense 5/6 course dinner. It was really fun! The food was tasty and it was just a really good time. Took some pictures & thought I'd share it with you!

So I didn't get a good picture of the layout but basically the kitchen is surrounded by a bar that everyone sits around. It's a fun atmosphere. They also let us walk around the back of the kitchen and watch them prepare the food. The staff was so so friendly and nice.

Photobucket
We didn't get to sit around the bar because our party was so big, so we had tables in the back. They are so accommodating though, they told us we could have as many servings as we wanted.

This was the second plate, Rabbit, Sweetbreads and Foie Gras Terrine. Not sure what those even are but it was good!
Photobucket
This place & the concept of the meal is actually pretty smart. It's a 2+ hour event and they serve you small portions over a longer period of time. By the time you get to "Act VI" - you're completely stuffed! Even if we wanted another serving of one of our favorite's of the night - we couldn't even fit more food in our stomach.

This one was my favorite, but it was course 5 so I could barely eat it. It was this mini chicken/fish pie with crust, yum! - Okay, actually the description said: "Local Halibut and Pastry with a Maine Lobster Ragout Lemon and Tarragon."

Photobucket
Warmed German chocolate cake, strawberry-creme fraiche
ice cream and candied pecans.

I would recommend this "dining experience" but it's really something I'd do only once. At the $$$$ (4-dollar signs on Yelp) I really could never justify spending that much money on a meal. But it was really fun and so nice to be able to all get together for my Grandma's birthday :)
