Hi! Please tell us a little about yourself and your shop: I'm Jenny Nguyen (soon-to-be Mrs. Nemlekar) and I hand make bags and sell bags in my studio loft in Pittsburgh, PA. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, but I realized my junior year that I wanted to be a fashion designer. I started my business when I was still in college, and upon graduation, I went full-time designing and making.

I have a wonderful fiance Akshay who is my rock, and a goofy little pug Hubert who is my comic relief. I share the details of my business, life, and the foods I love to cook on my blog: jennyndesign.blogspot.com

How did you get started making your lovely products: In college, I went through a stressful time studying and procrastinated by finding something else to do (don't we all?). Well, my mom taught me how to sew when I was 6 years old, so I bought an inexpensive sewing machine and starting making simple totes. The hobby soon became an addiction and I found myself sketching designs and reverse engineering the designs to come up with templates to make the final product. The addiction soon became a business and upon graduation, I knew I found my career path. I realized that I greatly enjoyed designing hand bags than medical devices. The rest is history.

Any advice for small or aspiring business owners? Do what you love because you love to do it. Your passion will show through in the quality and creativity of your craftsmanship.
