happy friday:

February 1, 2013

Here are a few shots of the #ohfshop from our instagram feed for those of you who don't use instagram. We have been working non-stop at the shop for the past month. Man, getting a shop open is a lot of work ;) but it's quite fun, without a doubt. The thing I love/hate the most is the barcode scanner/printer. I love scanning barcodes but not my favorite thing to do inventory for every single item, haha.

Speaking of instagram, anyone using vine yet? What do you think of it? Any android users feeling a little left out? I don't have an iphone but I've been hearing a ton about vine obviously. It's crazy that android always gets the good apps so much later - Nick told me there are more android users out there than iphone users. but it sure doesn't seem like it. Well if I ever made an app, I'd probably make it for iphone first too, haha.

Anyway, sorry it's been non-stop shop talk these past couple posts but it's all we're living and breathing right now! We get to the shop at 8am and leave at 8pm, welcome to shop-owner life! Can't believe we finally open tomorrow! It's pretty crazy. All i can say is we are so blessed.

Thanks for sharing in this exciting time with us! Will be back to posting next week. Have a wonderful weekend friends. We definitely will as we open up our first brick & mortar shop :)

ps: whoa, it's already February! will post a new desktop calendar on Monday!

17 hello's:

  1. Your shop looks like it is going to be adorable! I wish I lived near by to support it. Way to live out one of your dreams!

I jumped on the Vine wagon, maybe a day too early, my eyes saw a few unwanted scenes :) But, it is fun and stretches my creativity.

  3. Everything looks amazing! I wish I was on the west coast so I could come visit it!

What kind of letters did you use for making your marquee light? It looks like they're bought, but I can't tell what they're made out of. You should do a DIY of them! :)

  5. How funny the second my friend told me about Vine now everywhere I look all my fave bloggers are using it! I like it but it is still quite buggy and a little clunky to use but...it's fun :)

Good luck with your shop!!!!!! What a blessing you are to the crafty/woman-owned small business community!

And about Vine, for now, you're definitely not missing out. I haven't seen one video yet whose message couldn't have been delivered with an instagram shot...I guess people haven't figure it out yet :)

  11. My friend and I were Downtown for the Flea Market and we just so happened to walk past your store. You had me at vintage piano rolls! I love the displays and the artful way that everything is arranged. I only bought some super cute paper straws today, but saw so much that I need to go back for!

I snapped some pics and posted them on my blog, www.scarletcalliope.wordpress.com if you want to check it out. I adore your store and I'll be stopping by again soon to check out your latest goods.

  13. We just walked through downtown today and I was thrilled to stumble upon your store. I have been googling paper straws, cupcake liners, etc. trying to find a place locally that sells cool stuff like that. And now you're right nearby! Congrats on your new place and I'll be back when I have money in my pocket!! :)

  14. I work for a software company, and we have been creating apps for the iPhone and iPad, but not for the Android. The reason actually isn't preference toward one OS versus the other, but money. Creating an app for Apple devices is easier because there are only four apps you need to create (for the iPhone 3, 4, 5, and the iPad/iPad mini). Since Android is on so many devices, companies need to configure the resolution, speed, et al. for each device, which is way more complicated than for Apple. Of course, to stay competitive, companies will need to make the investment.

    Congrats on the store!

  15. Sigh. Your life is too shiny.

I just got vine but making videos that are actually GOOD is so much more effort than instagram! I don't know if I'm really going to keep it up.
