Favorite TV Shows:

April 8, 2013

So I'm a big tv-show person. I never used to be but in college Nick introduced me to 24 and Lost so I kind of blame him for getting hooked on television ;) We're always so busy so watching shows is kind of our way of relaxing. We watch a lot of shows. These are our current top shows. Homeland is my current favorite. The Game of Thrones is actually Nick's.. I like it, it's just kind of intense for me. We started watching Mad Men a while ago and thought it was so boring. But we started up again just because it's received so many awards and everything so we thought we'd try it again and it is really good! Downton of course, nothing more needs to be said about that show ;) The Walking Dead made a comeback, it started getting really boring around the farm time but we're big fans now. and Sherlock, wish they'd release more episodes in a season! and I'll always be a fan of Grey's Anatomy but Nick doesn't watch that with me. Told you we watch a lot of tv!

Okay, so what shows do you watch? Any of these? Any good shows you recommend? It's interesting because I was talking to a friend and she really only watches comedy like modern family and 30 rock. We're not too big on comedy shows, weird.  Hope you don't think we're weird because we watch a lot of television! So share your fave shows and guilty pleasures, I want to hear what everyone out there watches :)

42 hello's:

  1. Love all of these! The only ones I haven't see are Sherlock and Downton Abby (watched the first episode but couldn't get into it...

  2. HUGE fane of Breaking Bad. That's one of the few shows my hubby and I agree on! I don't get much time for TV so it's mostly collecting shows and watching them slowly get deleted on my DVR from the time going by haha. I've been wanting to catch up on my Grey's as well. I don't watch too many comedies, but I catch Parks and Rec from time to time and really like it!

  3. I like all of your choices, but I would add Scandal. It is intense.

  4. Downton was great :) wow I have so many shows I keep track of on Hulu, it's not even funny! to name a few... Smash, Switched at Birthday, The Lying Game (probably my favorite), Psych, Hart of Dixie, Nashville, Touch... Make It Or Break It is over now, but that was another favorite back when it was running. :)

  5. I love Downton but decided to stop watching in the third season before everyone started dying. I knew it was coming up and I didn't want to subject myself to the emotional trauma of seeing my two favorite characters die... LOVE Sherlock. It is simply amazing.

  6. I love all the shows you've recommended which is why I'm pretty sure you'll love Carnivale...it only ran for 2 seasons a few years ago but it has a huge cult following and is absolutely amazing!! It's about a travelling carnivale during the Great Depression and the battle between good and evil...you're probably not sold on that description but you can thank me later :)

  7. Downton Abbey & Sherlock are favs of mine. Lately I've really gotten into the show Touch. It's different from anything I've watched: about a boy who only communicates through numbers, and how peoples lives/actions/choices all intersect in crazy/beautiful ways. It's also got "mystery" flair since the father is trying to figure out what the numbers mean. My hubby & I watch a lot of shows together too <3

  8. LOVE The Walking Dead. I've missed all of season 3 but my aunt has it recorded so I need to get on it! Also was really into Breaking Bad - I need to catch up. I just started watching Hannibal (season premiere was on Thursday I think) sooo good! I'm also watching Heroes on Netflix because I never saw it when it aired and I'm so addicted. I watch a lot of TV too haha

  9. Watch Breaking Bad if you haven't already - my fave! :) xo

  10. I watch way too many back episodes of xfiles. and I love sherlock! I used to watch Downton, but then in the beginning of the third season, the pace of the show started to get too rushed, it became really unwatchable for me. I prefer for the drama to reflect on the characters, rather than just tons and tons of drama and no time for the characters to show any meaningful reaction to it. That's my critique, haha.

  11. I cannot get enough of Homeland, The Walking Dead, Sherlock, and Downton. I'm a few seasons in to Breaking Bad, but I don't think I like it as much as everyone else does! Which is frustrating! Have you tried watching House of Cards on Netflix? It's AMAZING. xx

  12. I'm the same way with tv. Sometimes I feel guilty about how much I watch when I hear people talk about how they "don't really watch television"... but not guilt enough to stop. Another AMC show that my fiance and I like is Hell on Wheels. Basically, I like almost any historical fiction. Anyway, I would definitely recommend checking it out.

  13. All great ones! I haven't seen Homeland or The Walking Dead, but I love the others. I also watch White Collar (low production but funny with great characters), The Good Wife (so addictive - just watch 5 and you'll be hooked), and Game of Thrones (I won't even start on this one). And my guilty pleasure for when Hubs isn't home is Will & Grace - it never gets old!

  16. Mad Men is the best! Followed closely by Boardwalk Empire... I also love New Girl, and my guilty pleasure is Gossip Girl - pure escapism in New York.

  17. I'm with you on Sherlock and Grey's!
Last year, I spent my summer starting Grey's from Season 1 and caught up in October hah. I was hooked.
Hm.. I watch HIMYM, Psych, Pretty Little Liars, The Mindy Project...
but my all time favorite is Friends - I have daily references and quote it with my brother practically every day :)

  19. You need a comedy in your mix, I recommend Parks and Recreation... but I also suggest going to back to beginning to catch up. It is only it is 5th season and season 1 only has 6 episodes. It starts slow but gets really good late season 2.

  20. My husband and I are really into Once Upon a Time. I love it because I love Disney so it kind of goes hand in hand, but is more intense. And New Girl, of course, but I guess you don't like comedy, so that show might not be one you'd like.

  22. My husband and I really enjoy comedy shows like "New Girl", "Modern Family", and "Big Bang Theory". If you ever do plan on watching a comedy show, check out "Big Bang Theory". We also really enjoy "Smash" which is a drama about all the drama of Broadway. Fantastic singing in that one! We've also been watching Breaking Bad, but I sometimes find it hard to get into. It can be really anti-climactic at times.

  24. We LOVE Mad Men! We've seen every episode. And we started watching Downton some time ago, and so far we really like it!

  25. I don't actually watch much television at all - but I DO watch Downton; I absolutely love it! Normally I get bored in ad breaks and end up walking off, but I'm committed to Downton so I can sit still long enough to watch the entire episode! Lol. I would really like to be into Mad Men; I've seen the first two seasons and then got distracted before the third....

  26. We Love TV too! all these shows, Awesome! We love 'Suits' at the moment, and New Girl, Big Bang, everyone's suggestions are cool. We have just downloaded Homelands on to our apple tv, cant wait to get going with that one, Ive heard really good things. Revolution has just started here in the UK, looking forward to catching up with that. We also love True Blood. My fave show is Supernatural, season 4 was the best, but it's still fun to watch two hot guys hunting monsters, lol.

  28. These posters are all awesome. There are quite a few of these shows that I've never seen!

  29. All your shows are amazing, but by far, the MOST INCREDIBLE SHOW is Friday Night Lights! Not for an escape or guilty pleasure, but because it WILL make you a better person. No joke. 3 episodes and you'll be hooked. I feel a void just thinking about it! House of Cards is a must and I also recommend The Killing (by AMC like Mad Men and Walking Dead). All on Netflix!

  30. Totally Dexter and Parks and Rec. Completely hooked on Friday Night Lights right now too. I agree with Amanda Joy, but I say one episode and you'll be hooked. Also, I hate to admit it but I watched all six seasons of Gossip Girl in about a month, total guilty pleasure.

  31. I've been so busy working 40 plus hours, so TV is a relaxing time for me and my man as well. I've never watched the other shows, but Downton Abbey used to be my favorite. Then it got ridiculous with everybody leaving and the sudden deaths--too unnaturally done from Julian Fellowes. I'm a Masterpiece freak so it was a letdown. The costumes and accents make me swooon though!

  32. Don't feel bad - I'm not too into comedies either. Really the only one I watch regularly (besides rerunds of Friends) is The Big Bang Theory. It's a very smart kind of comedy that I really find lacking in most of the other comedies on right now.

Anyway, yes, LOVE The Walking Dead. I never thought I'd love a show about zombies, but the storyline draws me in every week. I actually haven't seen the other ones you've mentioned, but that's what Netflix is for, right? ;)

Some of my other current favorites are Shameless, Parenthood, Grey's Anatomy, and Grimm.

  33. You're not alone ;), I watch so many tv-shows... Currently I'm watching Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Nikita and Arrow. I used to watch Fringe and Leverage too, but sadly there will be no more new episode.

  36. I haven't tried out Walking Dead or Sherlock but the rest of your picks are faves of mine too! With the addition of Sons of Anarchy...guilty pleasure :) Homeland is soooo great and I'm counting down until Season 3.

  37. Late response but you reminded me I should catch up on The Walking Dead. I'm into a few American shows (Vegas, American Horror Story, Supernatural) but I'm a fan of a lot of Canadian content. I love The Listener, Motive, Saving Hope, Continuum, Arctic Air, and many more.
