People sure get creative when it comes to using books to create something new. I came across this book lamp and my search just expanded from there. From simple journals created with actual book covers, to book ipod charging docks - so many fun things. But if you're a book lover, how do you feel about these books being cut out and ripped apart to make a new item?

Today Nick & I are reflecting on how we are blessed to live in a country with so many freedoms. The freedom of speech, religion, etc. I know I often take this for granted and forget about how many people in other countries are persecuted for what they believe or stand for. Happy-Friday-new-month! Is it just me or is 2011 flying by like crazy for anyone else too? I hope you like this month's desktop background :)

Any special holiday weekend plans for anyone? I am just really looking forward to a 3 day weekend with my husband! Well, I want to wish you all a safe 4th of July. I don't mean to be a downer but my cousin was killed by drunk driver on the 4th. It was careless and tragic and people don't think before they drink & drive! This holiday is forever changed for us. So my prayer is for all of you dear friends to be safe!

Sorry this is sort of unrelated to the blog but I wanted to get your thoughts ;) So I am desperately needing/wanting a new hairstyle. My hair is a thick, wavy mess. It's not even a cute wavy, or a wavy that I could make look good. It's dull and bland, and hard to manage because I have so much hair! Every time I go for a cut, the stylist always comments, "wow, your hair is thick!" So I just put it up, pretty much all the time! I would love to just chop it all off and have a cute short hair style.

Can I get your opinion? Any hair stylists out there? If you don't think I'd look good, you can just say it, you won't hurt my feelings ;) 2 of my friends pretty much already told me I wouldn't look good with a pixie cut, they told me I'd look like a boy! lol. So initially I'd love to get a pixie cut like these lovely ladies pictured below.. but I think my head shape is kind of weird so I don't know if I could pull it off.

maybe I could ease into it with a short short hairstyle like this:

I just want to do something completely new & fresh, something I've never done before! You know? I think it'd be really liberating :) What do you think?
