kickstarter:

Have you guys heard of kickstarter? I had heard of it but haven't really looked into it much. Spent some time browsing it and there are so many cool projects on there - the concept is really interesting to me. People who have a project they want to get going basically post it on here, and people donate money to "kickstart" the project! There are incentives for certain dollar amounts you donate and so everyone kind of wins - you help a small business and get some cool stuff in return!

It's really cool to see people want to support small businesses. and so amazing how some of the results turn out. Like, this guy whose goal was to raise $30K and he ended up raising $291 for men's underwear. Pretty legit! Here are some fun projects I came across for you to check out.

Seed Money: Coins you can plant! From Lea Redmond (who is behind the world's smallest post office) Just watch the video, what an amazing idea!

  Fancy Stamp Ring! This one has already been funded but what a cool idea! I hope she sells them online.

Defcon Yum: one a day gourmet internet bakey Love the concept of this daily bakery site.. like daily deals but pastries. Yum!
Tabletop Moviemaking Studio What a fun idea! Would be great for kids, or anyone really. I imagine there would be lots of hours of fun with this little movie studio. 
Kordal Knitwear Line. This one has also already been funded but had to post these beautiful items!
Limited edition Artist Letterpress Prints. All the projects I came across are all funded! ;)  They're all so cool so I know why they are all funded.

the impossible project:

i've been following the impossible project for a while now. i got 5 packs a few months back from them and they recently had the last batch of polaroid film for sale. their mission: bring back polaroid film. and today, i got a newsletter that black + white film is now available. (it's going fast though, almost half sold!) pretty amazing! watch some of the projects they've been working on. and sign up for their newsletter to be notified of the latest happenings.

my wishes:

so i was thinking about it and i really don't need anything this year for Christmas. which  i guess can be looked at as a very good thing. i have been super blessed and really have all i need. so then comes things i want, and wanting is always fun. here's what's on my list. what's on yours?

1. a trip, anywhere! jet blue is nice. i'd love to spend some time in seattle or portland. can you guess why? (if you can't, it's cause i like the rain!)

2. fuji instax camera! from urban outfitters. i think i have a thing for fun cameras. i mean, this is super expensive and it's $32 for a pack of 20 photos, meh. but it's just so fun!

3. skip slip ons! from groove footwear. i mainly just love this shade of green.

4. garland table lamp! by tord boontje. mm, so pretty. & just $165 for a tord boontje item, not bad.

5. ralph! by ralph lauren. i love this scent. i love it's zesty leaves and orange mandarin and all its charisma and colorfulness and sparkle. (those words are from the description. jeez, fragrance descriptions are intense!)

& of course, can't leave out the etsy goods!

1. a tiny dwelling from petitehouse. jess keeps her shop stocked as often as she can but items sell within seconds. literally! i once had my little house in my cart, ready to go, i went to look if there was another to buy and when i got back to my cart, it was gone! such a sad bear. ok, probably too much detail than you needed to know. but these are hot! anyway, i really love this mustard color roof to add to my collection!

2. mini deer plaque from nice. i really love this. so charming!

3. 3 tier jewelry stand from who made it. i collect pretty plates and this is just fabulous. and pretty.

4. vintage flocked paper from under the red roof. ok, i also love flocked paper too! maybe cause the soft texture of the paper reminds me of those fuzzy stickers i had when i was younger by mr . grossmans or sandylion.. did anyone have those? seriously, they were so soft and fun. 

5. snow white snow cake from fat daddy bake shop. um, white chocolate cake with white chocolate frosting?! this cupcake was made for me. i might just have to get myself a gift. this one is actually available on her website. (sidenote:: she was just featured on kathy lee. crazy!)

good things:

so in the past few days, despite some random flu sickness i have caught, there have been many things i've been accomplishing (some things off my 101 in 1001 list) and i'm hopefully out of my slacker non-motivated mode from being back from my trip. here are just a few good things:

01. i finished my business card design and ordered 250 cards:

02. a huge giveaway is in the works here at oh, hello friend .. so stay tuned. i have about 15 lovely shops donating so far! photos, information, and everything else coming in a couple weeks. here's a quick look at just a few shops included in the giveaway! more shops will be revealed soon!

03. working on finishing my website.

04. i got a treasury the other day at etsy, thus completing number seventy-seven off my 101 in 1001 list.

05. i (finally) posted on design-friends - a blog that i share with 2 other friends from college in which we post a design a week... at least, we're supposed to. i hadn't posted in quite a while.

06. my shop has reached over 500 favorites! and over 300 sales. hurray :)


07. i am getting ready for the upcoming patchwork show, this weekend. pocket mirrors are in the works, along with lots of new jewelry, stationery goods, and other fun items. photos to come soon. (want a pocket mirror?) getting so much accomplished, i feel like giving away something .. and to get in the spirit of the big giveaway coming :) if any of you friends want a pocket mirror, the first several comments get one! just be sure to leave your email address so i can message you!

the treasury made it to the front page tonight, 

i am so glad for everyone that was included! so exciting ;)

it is really a lot of fun to put treasury items together and i can see how this might be quite addicting in the future. after a long wait and several attempted fails of either missing it, forgetting about it last minute (even though I waited for about an hour) or just not being patient enough, i finally snagged one tonight! i hope you will stop by and take a look! haha, sorry about being such a nerd about it (blogging about it at midnight on a saturday) but hey, it's my first time :)

felt club:

oh, i feel so official! felt club has updated their vendor's page and there i am! amongst many other talented artists and crafters. the show is in los angeles, on november 16. if you're in the area, i hope you'll stop by and say hello. if you can't make it, don't worry, i'll be posting pictures of course as well as a guide to doing craft shows, once i actually go through it and everything.

and my necklace made it to the front, along with lots of other lovely items, last friday, october 3rd! 

i'm bummed i missed it considering i go on etsy, oh about every half hour but oh well, it is just so cool! i've always hoped one of my items would make it to the front page so hurray!

she was kind enough to message me and let me know since this unknowing girl was totally clueless to it.

some news:

i had to post cause i'm just SO EXCITED! i've wanted to be a part of the felt club ever since i attended back in, like '06 i think.  so a couple weeks ago, i applied to be a vendor at the felt club,  but a couple days ago, i read on their blog that they had over 400 vendors apply!  ok, i seriously didn't think i'd get accepted. 

but just got the email, and i got in! the event is november 17. i better start preparing! hm, too bad i'll be in china for like, 2 weeks in october! well, i'll just have to pull everything together by then. considering i missed 2 weeks of my last quarter in college and still pulled off the portfolio show, i think i'll be ok.
