just checking in for the week... after finishing selling monday - friday at uc irvine and then on saturday + sunday at unique los angeles, i'm beat! so tired. my apartment desperately needs to be cleaned and organized. so i will be spending time doing that.. the daily will be back next week. some follow up posts to come and a mid-week giveaway from some friends!

ps: you know ruby from cakies? we threw her a surprise baby shower.. well, she had her baby on december 3rd, 2009!!!!! a beautiful baby girl named soul valentina. congrats friend! :)

my aunt took me to michael levine's last week: the "largest fabric shop in downtown LA" as their website claims. it was so intense! think joanns times 10. i managed to snap a couple shots before my camera died but just wanted to share this amazing store with you. it's like, fabric heaven! i picked up some beautiful ivory and mustard gold linen, $14 a yard. it was so lovely, i couldn't resist.

i think i've posted about new math before but it's been a while. created by craig damrauer, new math are clever little equations baked fresh each monday! new math also has a store where you can purchase tees and i believe prints are available.

using tabs on oh, hello friend:

if you don't use tabs in your internet browser, you're missing out! tabs make life so much easier, so much more organized when you're browsing websites. if you're not familiar with tabs, read about them here!

i have received some comments from some lovely readers about the right click option: since i have disabled right click on my blog. please understand this is to keep the integrity of my blog, since unfortunately, there are some people out there who don't mind stealing other people's designs and hard work.

many of you may use tabs and a common way to use tabs is to right click the link you want to open on your mouse that says "open link in a new tab" -- since right click is no longer an option on this blog, i understand this may be frustrating. and since i've been receiving some comments about it, i am wondering if some of you don't know about the keyboard shortcut to open a new tab.. ?

so i am posting this 'tip' or an extra shortcut to help you tabber's, and hopefully ease that frustration of loosing right click here at oh, hello friend.

it is the CONTROL (on windows) + COMMAND (on mac) key on your keyboard! you simply hold down the key, and click on the link you'd like to open! (no need for right click) then it will open it up that link in a lovely brand new tab for you! i even made a little chart for you so you know which button on your keyboard it is:

test it now if you'd like! here is a link you can click. (just takes you to etsy) remember, hold down the keyboard key first, and then click the link with your mouse! :) hope that helps some of you!

hello july:

wow, june has passed. july is here.
half the year is already over!
time passes so quickly.

anyway, i wanted to let you know about lots
of things coming up in july!
a get together for locals & a swap for everyone!

first, i've been wanting to do a summer swap with you fellow friends and when i was packaging something for a friend one day, i thought it might be fun to do a 'lovely package' swap! what do you think? i mean, look at all these! wouldn't it be amazing to receive something like this in the mail? hehe.

of course, the item being sent will be equally as nice but there will just be extra ephasis on the packaging details. so all the info will be announced next week, but in the mean time, check out the 'nice package' flickr group (created by ez, creature comforts, she is so great!) for lots of inspiration and ideas to get started!

and in august, possibly a blogger's lunch? i was so inspired by my dear friend dionne, (city of dionne) that i thought it might be fun to have a bloggers get together. details are totally up in the air right now but i thought i'd put down a date. so if you're in the orange county/los angeles area or not even in this area but will be in town/want to come, please let me know! i'll probably extend an invitation to some local friends i know around here. more details will be announced later, once i figure out the location and everything. but please let me know if this is something you'd be interested in coming to!

We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of Time. I remember Time well. We were friends once. Those were the best days. All the things I loved to do, I did with Time — watch mindless television, talk on the phone with friends, sit and think about life, play dress-up, spend time with my family, work out, blog and read blogs. With Time, I felt more balanced, more in control.

But now that my sweet Time is gone, I feel frustrated, overwhelmed. Oh Time, maybe it’s my fault for losing you, for letting you go. In many ways, I’ve chosen to be without you and now I’m beating myself up for doing so. I want you back, please come back. I can’t live my life without you.

hi friends! i'm sorry i haven't been posting the daily this week! last week sort of burnt me out, but it was an awesome series and thanks to everyone who posted comments - it makes me happy that you enjoyed it.

this week has been okay. 3 people i know lost their jobs last week and then one just yesterday. times are tough and you hear about it on the news, but it is crazy when it starts happening to people you know and love.

beyond that though, i feel like i am needing some inspiration and to just get going! my mind is everywhere thinking and preparing for craft shows this summer and wanting to come up with new designs and art beyond jewelry. i just want to learn and know everything all at the same time. i'm taking a sewing class (we're making skirts next week!) and a flash class at my local community college so hopefully i'll be able to bust out some legit websites very soon. i just wish i could do it now and not have to hassle with the next 7-8 weeks of classes. ;) i must learn patience.

a midweek note:

this is my 200th post! hurray!

so this is a sort of random note for the week.

last august, i designed the wedding invitations for my friend, mindy. i met her at bible school. anyway, i got this lovely package of tea + teapot + white chocolate (my favorite!) from her in the mail a couple days ago. packages really are the best.. so thank you mindy!

on tuesday, my blog dreams came true. or i won the blog lottery. whatever you'd call it, my link appeared on one of my favorite blogs: darling dexter. whitney was so sweet to include my blog in her 'new blogs' post. later that day, the book of notes appeared on stumbleupon. the total number of hits i received that day was... are you ready? 3,600! wow. i feel so blessed! i would never have imagined to receive so many hits ever, let alone, in a day. thank you to everyone for your support and kind notes and comments! if you posted a link to the book of notes, i am so grateful. a few places i know of where the envelope book appeared was: a little susy, oh so beautiful paper, c is for charmed, black eiffel, and i was nominated for an oscar for the best supporting gal at the haystack needle ;) it is so nice to put 'inspiration' out in the world: and i got a lot of comments about people wanting to make a book of notes for their special someone.

so anyway, i'm trying to gather together some sponsors for another blog giveaway. if you were around for the last one, it was mega! i decided it'd be neat to have a giveaway every couple weeks, or every month. i thought i'd start with something from one of my favorites and dear friend, jessica, from petitehouse. so be sure to check back for that!

friday + packaged and shipped out about 25 orders..that's always fun. won a set of postcard prints from petitehouse, very exciting especially since i never win anything! went to a friend's christmas party at his work where we randomly saw this celeb (apparently he is good friends with my friend's boss) and ran into a friend of an x-friend. fun fun!

saturday + did a craft show at a high school that ended up to be a major bust. mainly grandma crafts + no one that really came to shop = not such a good show. i should have known better. but it was a lot of quality time with nicholas, and the really sweet lady next to me gave me 2 free bags of her pistachios. score! also bought some super yummy cookies from the bake sale, end of the day blowout 5 packs of cookies for a dollar, ha! the night ended with some fab christmas decorating with the roommate so now our place is all decorated with little white lights and lots of snowmen. can i just leave the decorations up all year? can it just be christmas all year? it's the best.

sunday + went for a screening of a movie coming out next year but they were full of our age range of people (weird) so we got free movie tickets instead since they couldn't let us in and so we saw this movie instead. mm, pretty intense, mye and i cried. but very well done, imo, so go see it if you get the chance.
